Western Ky. won the offensive battle 55-31 over Memphis. Two of the nation’s most potent and high-flying offenses in the country competed at the third annual Boca Raton Bowl. An oddity occurred when Hilltoppers lineman Forrest Lamp intercepted a pass attempt in the first quarter and ran it in for a nine-yard touchdown. Then the shootout commenced. Hilltoppers’ Mike White passed for 33 yards and three touchdowns and Anthony Wales rushed for a
245-yards and three scores. Memphis Tigers quarterback Riley Ferguson completed 25 of 43 passes for 372 yards and four tochdown.
