RALEIGH,N.C. State Ryan Finley threw for 370 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wolfpack to a 41-7 victory over the GSU Panthers. After completing 31 or 38 pass attempts, N.C. State Head Coach Dave Doeren said, “It was a great performance by him.” Former walk-on wide receiver Thayer Thomas lead the Wolfpack in receptions with nine passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. He was followed by Kelvin Harmon who caught eight passes for 129 yards.
Georgia State quarterback Dan Ellington was 15 of 28 for 198 yards and Destin Coates scored the team’s only touchdown on an 8-yard catch and run. “We got to covert and score,” Head Coach Shawn Elliott said. GSU missed two field goals, move the ball down the field often, but failed to convert on a key fourth and on yard play and often stalled in the red zone.
N.C. Stae ground game produced three touchdowns, but the GSU defense held the Wolfpack ground game to a 3.7 per yard average.
