The Georgia State Panthers (GSU) set numerous records in a 46-14 win over the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM). GSU started by scoring touchdowns on four straight possessions while holding the ball for 38.12 minutes which is a school record. Also, the 38 points margin of victory over an FBS opponent is a new record.
Georgia State Head Coach Shawn Elliott said, “Really thrilled to death with the team’s performance.” “We talk about doing things for the first time around here, it is what’s great about this, we can do things for the very first time and be the change. Most rushing yards in school history, longest run from scrimmage in school history, first punt return for a touchdown in school history. This was a very very good day for us. A very very good day. A very rewarding day.”
ULM Head Coach Matt Viator said, “I don’t even know where to start—just really bad coaching, just really bad playing. From start to end, we never could get anything going. “
All American Penny Hart had seven catches for just 42 yards but took a punt return for a 49-yard touchdown which is a GSU record first in the school’s football history and the catches were at opportune times to move the chain. “They move him (Penny Hart) around so much that everyone knows where he is, but they are doing a lot of different things with him this year, ” Viator said.
