North Pulls Off Comeback Win

Mobile, AL. – The North Team overcame a 9-0 deficit and scored four touchdowns after halftime to defeat the South Team 34-24 at the annual Reese Senior Bowl. Missouri’s Drew Lock started at quarterback for the North and went 9 of 14 for 57 yards before departing. Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley followed and went 7 for 13, for 59 yards before making way for Duke quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones was named MVP after throwing for one touchdown and running for another finishing 8 of 11 for 115 yards. N.C. State’s Ryan Finley finished up for the North by going 7 for 11 for 83 yards.

The North, coached by Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders’ staff, awarded players with Raiders logo stickers, putting them on players helmets after big plays. The North scoring summary started with a 1-yard run and a 19-yard pass from Jones to Massachusetts wideout Andy Isabella in the third quarter. Notre Dame running back Dexter Williams added a 3-yard plunge for the North and Tony Pollard followed with a 21-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

West Virginia’s Will Grier started for the South going 4 of 8 for 61 yards, but Washington State’s Gardner Minshew struggled as the next signal-caller in, finishing 1 of 8 for 4 yards. Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham entered third, going 4 of 5 for 30 yards with one fumble lost. The South scoring summary consisted of Temple running back Ryquell Armstead carrying seven time for 24 yards and a score, to include a one yard dive that put his team on top 6-0 five minutes into the game.
